This ongoing class focuses on sharpening and improving your acting chops. Every Thursday of the month, you’ll look forward to exercising your monologue, scene study, improvisation, specialty workshops on voiceover, commercial print, commercial technique, the business side of acting, audition techniques and marketing skills for the camera as well as the stage. Students will also be encouraged to network and market themselves at GET CONNECTED, Atlanta’s top Film/TV industry mixer with 1 FREE monthly ticket included.

ACTING: BASIC FUNDAMENTALS - ADULTS

This 12 week course focuses on the fundamentals of the craft and the business side of acting. You’ll study winning rehearsal techniques for auditions and learn how to apply them. You’ll also get your feet wet by beginning to explore the essentials of scene study, character development, improvisation, cold reading, voiceover, and marketing your skills for the camera. Your confidence will soar, as you watch your progress played back in class, showing that you’re making acting happen. At the courses end, your work is featured to friends, family, and industry professionals during our live presentation.

Internship Duties (duties vary, but typically include)

Acting Class

·    attending class regularly
·    being a positive role model

Marketing

·    distributing flyers, brochures, signs
·    calling existing students and/or existing prospects for follow up
·    attending marketing and brainstorm meetings
·    attend networking meetings and events
·    updating Charisma Facebook pages

Teaching Assistant

·    Helping with check-in
·    Setting up chairs and classroom
·    Helping with equipment handling – pausing. Start/stopping the camera
·    Helping students with line learning, script handling, improv
·    Assisting coach with making copies, handouts distribution, etc.
·    Distributing updates to students by phone or email if needed

Administration

·    Data entry
·    Helping proofing, designing, and creating handouts, newsletters, agendas
·    Meeting notes
·    Manning database
·    Organizing paperwork

Internship Requirements:
·    Intern must have a passion for acting.
·    Intern must have reliable transportation.
·    Intern must have internet access.
·    Intern’s schedule must allow up to 20 hours per week to dedicate to Charisma Studios. (There is some flexibility with scheduled working hours.)

Internship Benefits:
·    Intern will get compensated for referring students.
·    Intern will take a Charisma Studios 12 week course, and are welcomed to participate in Charisma workshops at a discounted rate during his or her term.
·    Intern will receive a complimentary acting coaching sessions from Founding Director, Karli G. Brooks.
·    Intern will make new friends and lifetime relationships with industry professionals.

Karli G. Brooks of Charisma Studios is casting a SAG sci-fi drama short film, “The Rubicon” by Bright Forest Productions in association with Blank Stage Productions.

The film is written and will be directed by Stephen P. Sherwood.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, May 10th from 2:30pm - 8pm.

Callbacks will be held Thursday, May 12^th from 7pm – 9pm.

Filming will run 2 weekends: May 21, May 22, May 28, and May 29.

Roles will not be paid, but all actors will receive copy/credit/meals and we will submit to film festivals and also submit for credit on IMDb.

“The Rubicon”

Tom and Angela are at the end of their ropes. Facing foreclosure, bankruptcy and physical problems, they are offered a chance at a new life… at a price. They must leave all they know, and can never return. Will they risk everything for a fresh start, or choose to stay and face an uncertain future?

We will be casting the following roles (local Atlanta - Union and Non-union talent):

THOMAS HOBSON / LEAD / Male / 35 - 45 / Caucasian

Recovery from his hip injury has been slow, Angela lost her job, they lost their car, Angela may have breast cancer, and now they’re being foreclosed. He is willing to do whatever it takes to reach his goals. He’s taken work where his hip caused him great pain, but he just gritted his teeth and worked through it in order to keep the job. He is terrified of losing Angela to cancer and will go to any length to get her treated.

ANGELA MILLER-HOBSON / LEAD| Female / 35 - 40 / Caucasian

The bills have piled up, the car was repossessed, they’ve sold off everything they can, and two weeks ago she went to a free clinic for a mammogram, which showed a lump in her breast. And now they’re being foreclosed. Her stoic nature and intelligence means she is a very pragmatic person who tries to consider things logically. She was brought up to ‘keep going, no matter what.’ She hopes that if they just keep trying something, anything, there must be a way through their problems.

He lost his job when the economy went under and is now worried about his future. He is task-oriented. Give him a job to do and he will follow it through come Hell or high water. He’s starting to feel his age and he’s worried about being able to get and keep work and to be able to stay healthy without being chucked into some ‘old folks home.’ He welcomes a fresh start.
